The Breast Health Quality Consortium (BHQC) honored community members for their outstanding contributions to improving breast health in the National Capital Area at the Breast Health Quality Symposium on October 20, 2016.
Award for Excellence in Community Leadership: Regina M. Hampton, MD
Medical Director and Founder, Breast Care Center at Doctors Community Hospital Medical Director and Co-Founder, Breast Care for Washington
Dr. Regina Hampton has been an essential member of the National Capital Area Breast Health Quality Consortium since the inception five years ago. In Prince George’s County she championed partnerships with community organizations and local government that serve the most vulnerable. Additionally, Dr. Hampton’s Breast Care for Washington Practice co-located with a safety-net clinic in one of the most underserved areas in the District, providing greater access to culturally competent care. Her peers recognize her as a regional leader with a deep commitment to health equity.
Award for Excellence in Community Collaboration: Community Radiology Associates
Community Radiology Associates (CRA) has been engaged in an effective private-public partnership with the National Capital Area Breast Health Quality Consortium since the beginning. CRA has participated in meetings to improve processes for mammogram referral in clinics and has provided support for educating patients. CRA was also the first radiology organization in Montgomery County to agree to provide mammograms to the BHQC at rates that matched Medicaid. Dr. Parambo, a radiologist at CRA, provided valuable insight and knowledge by presenting on breast health to BHQC members.
